Dorothy Ann Entsminger Taliaferro, age 92, of The Brian Center Nursing Care in Low Moor, Virginia died Monday, December 31, 2012 at the Brian Center. She was born March 8, 1920 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Albert and Nacey Wright Fridley. She was a production worker of Mizzy for over forty years and a member of Central Advent Christian Church. She was a proud member of the United Aerospace Workers Union. She was an honest and faithful person, a wonderful mother and wife, and a hard working woman who was worthy of respect. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Cardinal Entsminger in 1978 and second husband, George Taliaferro in 1995; two brothers, Dempsey Fridley and Freemont Fridley; and a sister, Cleo Fridley. She is survived by three daughters, Betty Hardy of Covington, Jean Priest of St. Louis, MS, and Peggy Resnick and husband Frank of St. Louis, MS; two sons, Ronald Entsminger of San Diego, CA and Cardinal Entsminger, Jr. and wife Tammy of Clifton Forge; two sisters, Jeannette Rose of Iron Gate, and Juanita Hoke of Clifton Forge; two brothers, Alfred Fridley of Covington and Raymond Fridley of Clifton Forge; two grandsons, Nicholas Entsminger and Eric Vess, both of Clifton Forge; and numerous other grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Dennis Nicely officiating. Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be Douglas Wells, Lewis Linkenhoker, Michael Boguess, Ricky Swoope, George Jenkins, and John Bazzrea. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:30 PM until time of service at Nicely Funeral Home. Juanita Mae Fridley Hoke, 89, of 904 Market St. in Iron Gate died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at The Woodlands Nursing Center in Clifton Forge.
Mrs. Hoke was born April 10, 1924, in Alleghany County a daughter of the late Alfred and Nacey Wright Fridley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kathy Guiliania, three sisters and one brother.
Surviving are her Daughter and Son-in-law, Frances and Richard Ackerman of Lancaster, PA: her granddaughter, Natalie Guiliania, of Lancaster, PA; her grandson, Richard “Judy” Guiliania, of New Providence, PA; one sister, Jeanette Rose of Iron Gate; three brothers, Albert Fridley of Clifton Forge, Fremont Fridley of Hemet, CA, and Raymond Fridley of West Covina, CA and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the graveside in Lone Star Cemetery with the Rev. Virgil Woodie officiating.2 |

He was born in Hematite, Virginia on February 21, 1922 a son of the late Connie C. Fridley, Sr. and Dreuy Bayne Fridley. Mr. Fridley was the retired owner and operator of Connie C. Fridley and Son’s General Contracting for over fifty years, a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Covington and a member of the Covington VFW Post #. He served in World War II in the 13th Armored Blackcat Tank Division. He attended Dunlap High School. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lillian Biggs Fridley of Hematite; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie F. and David Ergenbright of Covington; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary W. and Selina Tolley Fridley of Covington and Lorenzo Z. and Mary L. Fridley of Covington; six grandchildren, Travis Fridley, Brandon Fridley, Lucius Fridley and Jani Ergenbright Pullin and husband Michael; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Malvin and Bonnie Fridley of Eagle Rock, Harold and Patty Fridley of Covington; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Glenna and Linwood Barnett, Muriel Webb, Shirley Fridley, Emma and William Rose all of Covington and Helen Rawlings of Montville, VA; sister-in-law, Mildred Fridley of Eagle Rock; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Clinton Fridley. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, June 21, 2002 from the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Pastor Billy Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Palestine Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Hematite. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the residence. The family suggest memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Mountain Regional Hospice, Volunteers, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422 or to the Dunlap Fire and Rescue Squad, 4115 Midland Trail, Covington, VA 24426. Pallbearers will be grandson’s, nephews and special friends of Mr. Fridley. Active Pallbearers will be grandson‘s, Brandon, Travis and Lucius Fridley; nephews, Johnathan Bostic, Danny Fridley and Michael Pullin. Honorary pallbearers will be John Willard Owens, Curtis Thompson and David Fitzgerald. Alternate pallbearer will be Loren Thompson.
