George Campbell, 96, passed away peacefully on January 7th, 2021at home with his family. George was born May 26, 1924 in Fayette County, West Virginia to the late Earl and Macie Campbell.

George was an airplane engine mechanic in the 812th Army Air Force Base Unit, Army Air Corps during WWII from 1943-1946. During his service he was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, the American Theater Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. George married his sweetheart Ethel in 1946 and they shared 74 years of marriage. Before moving to Virginia Beach, George resided in Barnegat, NJ. It was there that he founded the Boy Scout Troop Number 17 in 1959. George was an active member of Haygood United Methodist Church for many years. He was a Civil Servant from 1946 until his retirement in 1979. After his first retirement, he went to work at the Virginia Marine Science Museum, where he worked and volunteered until his second retirement in 2006. On June 14, 2006, the then Mayor of Virginia Beach declared a proclamation making June 14, 2006 George Campbell day for his 20 year service at the Virginia Marine Science Museum. He is predeceased by his parents, a brother Charles and a sister Christine.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Ethel of 74 years; a daughter Patricia; 3 grandchildren Rick, Kristin (Mike), Travis; and a great-granddaughter Adelyne.5

Gladys P. Campbell, age 95 of Fairless Hills, PA passed away peacefully in the Arms of Jesus on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Attleboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Langhorne, PA. Gladys was born in Barnegat, NJ and lived in the Ewing Township, NJ area for 25 years raising her 4 children; than in Morrisville, PA for 33 years prior to moving to Fairless Hills 10 years ago.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Campbell was employed with Heinemann Electric in Trenton for 25 years, then with Hibbert Printing Company in Trenton for 15 years. Gladys was a member of the Fallsington United Methodist Church, a 34 year member of the Morrisville Senior Center and enjoyed going to the casinos and traveling to Florida and Arizona, as well as bowling. She was also a longtime volunteer with Meals on Wheels.

Daughter of the late George and Anna Bell (Penn) Wilbert, wife of the late Charles Ernest Campbell, mother of the late Charles Edward Campbell and Catherine M. Graves, and grandmother of the late Carla Poissant. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Lawrence E. (Sharon Migoni) Campbell of New Philadelphia, OH, a daughter and son-in-law Christine and Terry Ritter of Fairless Hills, a sister Margaret McCormick of Cedar Run, NJ, nine grandchildren Rebecca, Barry, Bradley, Larry, Lori, Nancy, Andy, Stacy and Shannon, and many nieces and nephews.

Her services will be held privately, at the convenience of the family, entrusted to the care of the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, Morrisville, PA.1

Surviving: brother, James Bragg of Sykesville, Md; sisters, Ruth B. Dodd and Mary E. Alberchinski of Fayetteville, Rachael B. Riffe and Naomi B. Poff of Oak Hill.

Memorial service and entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Beckley, with the Rev. Gordon Humphreys officiating. There will be no visitation. Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, is in charge of arrangements.2,5

MARTINEZ, Ga. — Ruth Bragg Dodd, 94, formerly of Fayetteville, W.Va., entered into rest Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at Doctors Hospital, Augusta, Ga.

Ruth Dodd was born in Kincaid, W.Va., on June 2, 1914, the wife of the late Chauncy Harold Dodd Sr., and the daughter of the late Jobe Franklin Bragg and the late Cora Kincaid Bragg.

Ruth was an active member for many years with the Fayetteville United Methodist Church, where she served as the church auditor, and as a member and chairperson of the UMW Dream Circle.

She was a graduate of Oak Hill High School and of Stella Boothe Secretarial School in Huntington, West Virginia. Mrs. Dodd served as a legal secretary to the late Frank Mahan and, for a number of years, served as the magistrate clerk of Fayette County until her retirement at age 82. Ruth lived in Fayetteville until late 2004, when she moved to Augusta, Ga., so her son could better care for her medical needs.

Survivors include her son, C. Harold Dodd Jr. and daughter-in-law, Mary Jane, of Martinez, Ga; grandsons, Jeffrey Scott Dodd and wife, Melanie, of Swannanoa, N.C., and Jason Harold Dodd and wife, Heather, of Cumming, Ga; great-grandchildren, Skyler Nicole Dodd and Jacob River Dodd of Swannanoa, N.C; sister, Mary Evelyn Alberchinski of Fayetteville, W.Va; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at 3 p.m. at the Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, with Rev. Clare Sulgit-Horn of the Fayetteville United Method-ist Church officiating. Interment will be held in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, immediately following.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service, from 1:30 p.m. until time of service, at the funeral home on Saturday.

OAK HILL — Rachael Elaine Bragg Riffe, 88, of Oak Hill, died on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill.

Born June 27, 1920, at Kincaid, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Jobe and Cora Kincaid Bragg.

She was a retired beautician and retired from the Fayette County Committee on Aging.

Mrs. Riffe was a member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir.

Her husband of 65 years, Russell Lewis Riffe Sr., and son, Russell Lewis Riffe Jr., preceded her in death on the same day, July 12, 2005. She was also preceded by a brother, James Bragg, and two sisters, Martha Bragg Huffman and Naomi Bragg Poff.

Survivors include daughter, Rhonda Riffe Sutphin of Oak Hill; two sisters, Ruth Bragg Dodd of Georgia and Mary Evelyn Alberchinski of Fayetteville; and two grandchildren, Mark Riffe and Rebecca Riffe, both of Virginia.

Services will be on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with Rev. William Slates and Dr. Charles Miller officiating. Entombment will be at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill.

Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 12, 2008.
