Zela Geraldine Booth, 94 of Beckley, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Harper Mills in Beckley following a short illness. Born on April 18, 1922 in Covington, VA to the late William Fridley and Margaret Small Fridley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Randolph Booth, Sr; sons, Donald Lee Booth and John Randolph “Randy” Booth, Jr; sisters, Virginia Barker and Rebecca Halsey; brother, Bill Fridley; and a very special daughter-in-law, Phyllis Athey Booth. Geraldine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister and enjoyed taking care of her family. She was head cook in charge for Wild Water Rafting Co. for many years. She was known for the best baked macaroni and cheese, cornbread, stuffed green peppers, and pineapple upside-down cake. Some of her hobbies include reading her Bible, playing Skip-bo, dominos, and scrabble with special friends, Dolly Dixon and Florence Tolliver and going on vacations with lifelong best friend, June Hedgecock. She was also an avid word search puzzle master and could complete a book in no-time. Those surviving her include her children, Jerry Booth of Poca and Brenda Sloan and husband Bill of Beckley; sister, Janice Anderson of Akron, OH; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive her. Services for Geraldine will be conducted at 5pm on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill with Rev. PJ Meduri officiating and interment to follow in High Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call from 4-5pm on Saturday at High Lawn Funeral Home.
