She was a lifelong resident of Fredericksburg. Her passion was making others beautiful. She was a well- known hairdresser in Fredericksburg for more than 25 years at Martha's Beauty Salon. Thelma was one of the lucky people who truly enjoyed her career.

She is survived by her only son, Joseph Wayne Eastridge; two nieces, Dreama Akers and Betty Synan; and a nephew, J.T. Tingler.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.^7,8

Edward Ray Tingler, age 71, of Salem, Va. died Monday at his home. He served his country in the US Navy and was a retired firefighter from the City of Salem. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rebecca Tingler and a daughter, Debra Lee Tingler. He is survived by his former spouse and lifetime friend, Azella E. Tingler; one daughter, Judy Tingler Whitmire and son-in-law, Donald William Whitmire; two grandchildren, Samantha Reneé Goin and Edward Tanner Tingler; one great-granddaughter, Madison Grace Duncan, all of Salem; two brothers, Benjamin Tingler and John Tingler, both of Salem; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Marie St. Clair, Bethesda, Md., Mrs. Helen Snead, Mrs. Hazel Morrison, both of Troutville, Mrs. Florence Snead, Amherst; many nieces and nephews, and his best friend, “Bug-Bug”. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted at Lotz Salem Chapel, Thursday, February 7, 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Sherman Spence officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Funeral Home, Salem.^7,8,9
