Paul T. Pullen, 81, died on Monday, January 10, 2011, in Salem, Va.

Born on November 3, 1929, in Charleston, W.Va., he was the son of the late Rev. Oden M. and Anna M. Pullen.

Finishing high school in Charleston, he felt the call to preach and went to college receiving an A.B. degree from Asbury College, and the M. Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary.

Later he completed the M. Th. at Pittsburgh-Zenia Theological Seminary and PH.D. at the University of Pittsburgh. He entered the Methodist ministry in the WV conference in 1949 and later transferred to the Pittsburgh Conference. He served churches in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, and also served as the Executive Secretary of the Methodist Board of Education in Pittsburgh.

In addition he served for 30 years as Chaplain in the United States Air Force Reserve, retiring with the rank of Colonel.

He entered higher education in 1969 fulfilling a life long goal and commitment, retiring as Dean of Virginia Western Community College.

His interests were many including wood working, traveling on behalf of world peace with Friendship Force International, and Civil War and World War II history.

Surviving are his wife, Connie, of Salem; two daughters, Bonnie S. Maupin and husband, Richard, of Middletown, Ohio, and Nancy J. Powell, of Roanoke; one son, Drew T. Pullen and wife, Candace, of New Port Richie, Fla; one grandson, James D. Maupin, of Middletown, Ohio; and his faithful companions, Heidi and Hedy.

The Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, January 14, 2011, at First United Methodist Church in Salem, with the Rev. Stephen G. Bray and the Rev. James Angle officiating. A reception will follow the service. Interment will be at a later date in Quantico National Cemetery. Memorial gifts can be sent to Asbury Seminary, 204 N. Margaret Elizabeth Lanham, 87, of Summersville, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at Summersville Regional Medical Center. Born March 29, 1926, in Powellton, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Howard and Kathleen Elizabeth McAllister Harris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William A. "Bill" Lanham, and by a daughter, Wilma Harvey.

She was a member of Southern Baptist Fellowship Church, Summersville, and was a former owner and operator of MacLansDry Cleaning, Summersville.

Survivors include one son, William H. Lanham of Richmond, Va; one daughter, Patrice Baier of Bradenton, Fla; two sisters, Marvetta Dahir of Virginia and Vivian D'Alia of Florida; grandson, William Thirion; and two great-grandchildren, Lillian Edwards and Logan Thirion.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at White Funeral Home, Summersville, with Pastor Dennis Cherry officiating. Interment will follow in Walker Memorial Park, Summersville.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
