Robert "Bob" Johnson, age 82, of Stanaford, WV passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Raleigh General Hospital.
Born on September 25, 1937 at Beckwith, he was the son of the late Emory Johnson and Dunwreath Ferne Skeens Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a retired manager for Valley Bell Dairy in Beckley, and formerly served as manager of Purity Maid Bakery. He was a member of Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church, and served as the Beckley Camp Chaplain for the Gideons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Richard Johnson.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of nearly 13 years, Shirley Moye Johnson; two sons, Robert Johnson Jr. and wife Janice of Roanoke, VA, and David Michael Johnson and wife Cindy of Baltimore, MD. A daughter, Teresa Ann Dooley and husband Niles of Roanoke, VA. Step sons, Everett Bennett Jr. and wife Pam, and Eric Bennett of PA, and all of the extended Moye family. Five grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Piercy of Richmond, VA.
In Mr. Johnson's honor, in lieu of flowers, one Bible donation for $5.00 to the Gideons, would reach over 1000 people in its duration.
The family extends special thanks to his Gideon friends, members of Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church, Beaver Baptist Church, and Crab Orchard Baptist Church for their care and support.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry
Peace Chapel in Beckley on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 11AM with Pastor George Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 8 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
