Born April 14, 1923, at Sandstone, he was the son of the late Earl and Ina Taylor Vandall.

Mr. Vandall was a retired employee of the C&O Railway Company, having 35 years of service with the Maintenance of Way Department. He was a member of the Laurel Creek Baptist Church at Sandstone, the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way, the Hinton Moose Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Vandall was a lifelong resident of Sandstone and was a World War II veteran with eight years of service.

Survivors include two brothers, Lloyd and Danny Vandall, both of Sandstone; and five sisters, Pauline Taylor, Phyllis Foster, and Karen Cales, all of Sandstone, Mary Dolin of White Sulphur Springs, and Dixie Hall of Ballard.

Graveside services and burial were held at 11 a.m. Sat. July 5th at the King Cemetery at Sandstone, with the Revs. Andy Howdock and Eddie Johnson officiating.3,5

Born April 27, 1925 at Sandstone, WV, she was the daughter of Ulysses Earl and Ina Noel Taylor Vandall. She was a very active member of the Laurel Creek Baptist Church at Sandstone, WV, as long as her health permitted, before moving to Crimora, VA.

She Worked in Baltimore, MD at a military factory making detonators during World War II. She was one of the ladies referred to as Rosie the Riviter.

Trained at Richmond Memorial Hospital as a scrub technician in the operating room. Then was employed at Crippled Children’s Hospital in Richmond, VA.

She moved back to Beckley, WV area, where she was employed at Appalachian Regional Hospital in the operating room for 17 years, before retiring.

Preceding her in death other than her father and mother were three bothers Kenneth, Billy, and Lloyd Vandall, four Sisters Jean Surber, Betty Ward, Dixie Hall, and Karen Cales.

Survivors include one daughter Shirley Jean Harlow and Husband Ernie, Covington, VA, one son Leslie Van Turner, Crimora, VA. One grandson Michael Shafer of Staurts Draft, VA, one great granddaughter Brianna Shafer and one great grandson Brandon Shafer. One Brother Danny Vandall of Sandstone, WV. Two sisters Mary Dolin of White Sulphur Springs, WV and Phyllis Foster of Granite Falls, NC.

Pallbearers are Danny Jones, Charlie Jones, Darren Walker, Mike Shafer, Merle Ward, and Danny Wayne Vandall.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday July 13, 2016 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Andy Howdock officiating. Burial will follow at the King Cemetery at Sandstone. Friends may call from 12:00 noon until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.2

Mr. Vandall was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 132. He was U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He was also a member of Princeton Moose Lodge and Fraternal Order of Eagles, and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, James Vandall of Beckley and Mike Willey of Hilldale; a daughter, Renata Wiseman of Piney View; a brother, Danny Vandall of Sandstone; five sisters, Pauline Turner of Grottoes, VA., Mary Dolin of White Sulphur Springs, Phyllis Foster of Sandstone, Dixie Hall of Ballard and Karen Cales of Sandstone; and three grandchildren.

Born January 28, 1945 at Sandstone, she was the daughter of the late Ulysses Earl and Ina Taylor Vandall.

Karen was a graduate of Sandstone High School. She was a medical transcriptionist and was of the Baptist faith. She studied her Bible daily and loved nature and feeding the wild animals around her home.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Kennith, Lloyd and Billy Vandall and two sisters, Jean Surber and Betty Ward.

Survivors include a daughter, Kristi Cales of Roanoke. One brother, Danny Vandall of Sandstone. Four sisters, Pauline Turner of Grottoes, VA, Mary Dolin of White Sulphur Springs, WV, Phyllis Foster of Sandstone and Dixie Hall & husband Rick of Peterstown, WV.

A private funeral service for family and invited friends will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday March 17, 2013 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Benny Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the King Cemetery at Sandstone. There will be no visitation.

Pallbearers will be; Allen and Carlos Richmond, Danny Lee and Charlie Jones, Danny Wayne Vandall, Van Turner, Darren Walker and Kevin Ward.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.1

Born April 14, 1951 in Hinton, she was the daughter of Gladys Phillips Lemon of Hinton and the late James Lemon.

Jane was a former employee of Beckley A.R.H. Hospital and was a member of Meadow Creek Baptist Church. She was a lifelong resident of Summers County and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister.

Besides her father, she was preceded in death by three brothers, David, Donald & Gary Lemon. Also by one sister, Lisa Bragg.

Survivors include her husband, Danny B. Vandall. One son, Danny Wayne Vandall of Sandstone. One daughter, Melinda Gore & husband Jason of Hinton. Two brothers, James Lee Lemon & wife Sandy of Hinton and Roger Dale Lemon of Mullens. Three sisters, Kathy Duncan & husband William of Jumping Branch, Susie Raines & companion Timmy Gill of Princeton and Tammy Bragg & husband Calvin of Brooks. Two granddaughters, Krystina & Ella Jean Gore, both of Hinton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday February 8, 2010 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor George Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the King Cemetery at Sandstone. Friends may call from 6 until 9 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be; Gary Wayne Lemon, Jr., Danny Lee Jones, Charles Allen Jones, Van Turner, Jeremy Lemon, Shawn Bragg, Bill Duncan & Grumpy Cales.1 
Burial*8 Feb 2010 Her body was interred on 8 Feb 2010 at Sandstone, Summers Co, WV, at King Cem.1
