Walter Ernest Bragg, 75, resident of Weston, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, April 26, 2009, at his residence, following a sudden illness.
He was born July 30, 1933, in New, WV, Raleigh County; a son of the late Henry Earl Bragg and Ida Mae Atkins Bragg.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, and best friend, Rosalea “Jackie” Arthur Bragg; one son, Walter Eugene Bragg and wife Faith of Crab Orchard; two daughters, Tammy L. Miller and husband James of Mt. Airy, N.C., and Annetta L. Farley and husband Teddy of Weston; two sisters, Evelyn Canaday and Norma Raines, both of Glen View; four grandchildren, Jamie Bowman and husband Todd of Mt. Airy, Walter G. Bragg of Greensboro, N.C., Billy “BJ” Farley of Weston and Michelle T. Hefner and husband Derrick of Weston; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Carlos Atkins.
Walter was dedicated to reading his Bible, fishing and deer and coon hunting.
He was a faithful member of the Weston Church of God.
Walter was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, children, family and friends.
Friends were received Tuesday, April 28, at the Weston Church of God. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at Oak Grove Cemetery, Raleigh County, with Reverend Randall Hughes officiating.

Goldie Bragg, 77, of Raton passed away in Raton Monday, Nov. 10, 2008. She was born Feb. 9, 1931, in Dameron, W. Va., the daughter of James Edward and Rosetta Cook Lucas.

Goldie is preceded in death by husbands Shelby Vanderpool and Earl Bragg, three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her daughters Diana Bernal of Albuquerque, and Betty Cochran and husband Willard of Eccles, W. Va., son Bill Vanderpool and wife Cathy of Raton; sisters Mary Young of Glen Daniels, W. Va., Debra Freeze and husband Steve of Glen Daniels, brothers Ronnie Lucas and wife Donna, Bill Ray Lucas and wife Martha and Jimmy Lucas and wife Reba, all of Glen Daniels, also surviving is sister-in-law Evelyn Lucas of Glen Daniels, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Visitation for Goldie J. Bragg will be Friday, Nov. 14, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.

Funeral services for Goldie J. Bragg will be held Saturday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Raton with brother James Ferguson officiating. Burial will in the Maxwell Cemetery in Maxwell.

Arrangements and a celebration of love for Goldie J. Bragg are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.1

NIMITZ — Elder David Hiram Lilly, 81, of Nimitz, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at Summers County ARH following a long illness.

Born Jan. 14, 1925, at Nimitz, he was the son of the late Tanner David and Virginia Bowling Lilly.

Having been a minister for more than 48 years, David was both a member and pastor of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church at Ghent and Sandlick Primitive Baptist Church in Webster County. He was retired from C&O; Railroad. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran, having fought in the South Pacific.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold F. Lilly.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 60 years, Amma Jean Frazier Lilly; a daughter, Madonna Kay Gwinn and husband, Randal, of Pulaski, Va; three sons, Gary David Lilly and wife, Renee, of Beckley, Gregory Scott Lilly of Nimitz and Elder Samuel Alan Lilly and wife, Patricia, of Vinton, Va; a grandson, William Lilly and wife, Rebecca, of Beckley; three granddaughters, Candice Farrington and husband, the Rev. Phillip Farrington, of Beckley, Amanda Lilly of Roanoke, Va., and Tara Lilly of Vinton; two great-granddaughters, Jessica Lilly and Tracie Lilly, both of Beckley; a sister, Mary Garnet Stanley and husband, Eugene, of Nimitz; two brothers, the Rev. Thomas L. Lilly and wife, Loretta, of Greenville, N.C., and Leonard Lilly of Nimitz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel, Hinton, with the Rev. Elzie Gwinn, Elder Leonard Brammer and the Rev. Thomas L. Lilly officiating. Interment will be in Lilly-Crews Cemetery, Nimitz.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

NIMITZ — Mary Garnet Stanley, 84, of Nimitz, died at 5:46 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2013, at the Raleigh Center, at Daniels, following a long illness.

Born October 14, 1928, in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Tanner David and Virginia Rae Bowling Lilly.

Ms. Stanley was a 1946 graduate of Hinton High School and attended the Jefferson School of Commerce in Charlottesville, Va. She was a former bookkeeper for the National Bank of Summers in Hinton, and a proof clerk and stenographer for the First National Bank of Hinton. She was also a former employee of the Jumping Branch/Nimitz Public Service District for several years. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church at Nimitz and had lived most of her life in Summers County.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, David H., Arnold F., and Leonard R. Lilly, and one granddaughter, Alex Brittany Noel Ward.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, S.E. “Gene” Stanley; one daughter, Lana Karyn Stanley Ward and husband Teddy of Greenville, N.C; one brother, Rev. Thomas L. Lilly and wife Loretta of Greenville, N.C; six grandchildren, Jonas Kenton Ward, Shawn Jenae Ward, Noah Eric Ward, Gabriel Ryan Ward, Benjamin Isaiah Ward and Joseph Micah Ward.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel, in Hinton, with Pastors Andy Davis and Bill Ballengee officiating. Burial will follow in Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Grandsons, nephews and Joe Willey will serve as pallbearers.

Elsa M. Booth, 96, 218 Stone Street and formerly of South Pleasant Street, passed away Sunday morning at Mercy of Northern New York where she had resided for the past 4 months.

Elsa was born November 13, 1916, a daughter of Harold A. "Dick" and Flora Heinrich Bern. She graduated high school from Rome Free Academy. She married Harley S. Booth on November 1, 1941. Mr. Booth passed away on April 10, 1990.

Elsa worked for many years as an Avon Representative. She was an active member of Stone Street and Stone Presbyterian Church serving on the Board of Trustees, teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir.

Surviving are her daughter, Linda (Allan) Ferguson, Homer; her son, Harley "Lee" (Alice) Booth, Pierrepont Manor; 2 grandchildren, Alesa (Robert) Rich, Evans Mills, Adam Ferguson and partner Cyrus Hamilton, Cortland; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 12, 1:00 pm at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Smith officiating. There are no calling hours. Spring burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Memorial Fund of Stone Presbyterian Church, 140 Chestnut Street, Watertown, New York 13601.2,1
