Mrs. Clarissa R Loving, 84, lifelong resident of Fayette county, died yesterday morning at her home at Deepwater of pneumonia. She was a member of the Montgomery Presbyterian church 50 years and was well known in that section. Servlces will be held at 2 p. m. tomorrow at the Deepwater Methodist church with Rev. A. N. Brown of Montgomery Presbyterian church and Rev. C. A. Powers of East Bank, officiating. Burial will be in the family cemetery at Deepwater. The body will be removed from the B.C. Hooper mortuary at Montgomery to the church at 11 a m. tomorrow. Surviving are two daughters. Mrs. Julia Fredeking, Mt Hope; Mrs. Mamie Hoke, Huntington; and a brother, C. H. Settle of Morehaven [Moore Haven], Fla; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.5 |

Millard E. Chambers, III
Millard “Mill” Chambers, 82, of Elkview passed away on January 28, 2012 after a long and colorful life.
Mill was born July 26, 1929 in Charleston where he lived most of his life. He was the son of Millard E. Chambers, II and Grace Clara Carwile-Chambers. His father was a Charleston fireman and his grandfather, Millard E. Chambers, was a boat builder in Campbells Creek in the early 1900’s.
Mill Served in the US Marines during WWII where he was the youngest veteran in West Virginia at the age of 14. He later served in the third Infantry Division during the Korean conflict and then with the Army Reserves for 7 years.
He attended Morris Harvey College and West Virginia State College and got his degree at New York University with a major in photography. He worked for 33 years as a technical photographer at Union Carbide and retired in 1986. Mill then started his second career for Business Records as a Records Engineer for 14 years. He then retired the second time and ran his own photography business (Meco Photo).
He enjoyed flying, which he learned from his good friend, Junior Meadows. Reminiscing with his good friend, Bob Samples, was a favorite past time as well. He also enjoyed walking for exercise and watching his grandkids play softball.
Mill had a very large, happy and supportive family and was predeceased by his parents and brother Edward Chambers. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Elkview, daughter Beverly (Terry) Jarrett of Blue Creek, daughter Becky (David) Hall of Elkview, son Mike Chambers (Paul Norris) of Charleston, SC, sister Mildred Rider of Buck Head, GA, brother Bill Chambers of Elkview, sister-in-law Jo Ann Wilson of Sissonville, granddaughters, Jessica Jarrett and Ashley Jarrett, Lindsay Angle and Kati Angle, great-grandchildren, Austin and Abby Hanson and Tensley Jarrett, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the HHHS-Softball Bat & Ball Club, 275 Elk River Road, Clendenin, WV 25045.2 |
