Obituary

Della Ring Alderson, a longtime resident of Barstow, passed away at Barstow Community Hospital on Friday, Nov. 3, 2000. Mrs. Alderson was 90 years young. She was born in Concordia, Kan., on Feb. 23, 1910. The Alderson family moved to Barstow in November 1935. Della saw many changes to the city over her lifetime. She worked at the "old" Barstow Hospital as a cook and spent many years in the kitchen of the Barstow Union High School. She catered parties for many years, especially during the holidays. Della was very proud of being a lifetime member of the Parent Teacher Association. She was a member of the Desert Church of Christ. Mrs. Alderson is survived by her two sons, Donald L. Alderson Sr. and wife, Daisy, of Boise, Idaho, and Harold R. Alderson and wife, Betsy, of Barstow; three daughters, Alberta J. Fairbanks of Apple Valley, Nadine Wilton of Barstow and Carole Brown and her husband, Robert C. Brown III, of Sugar Land, Texas; and 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Bert; two sons, Clarence L. and Richard Bert Alderson, and two granddaughters, Landia Wilton and Terry Fairbanks Heywood. Della had a real zest for life with a quick smile for everyone. She loved to travel and was always ready to give a helping hand to those in need. She will be dearly missed. Della's family would like to thank the people at Barstow Community Hospital and caregivers, Eva, Mary Lou and Lupe. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mead Mortuary, 36930 Irwin Road. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at Mead Mortuary. Burial is at Mountain View Memorial Park, 37067 Irwin Road.3,4
