Clarence Ashby Wiseman, 90 of Hilldale passed away at 10:21 p.m. Sunday December 10, 2017 at Summers Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at Hilldale following a long illness.
Born January 14, 1927 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Charles C. and Mildred Crook Wiseman.
Mr. Wiseman was retired from Silo Ice Company in Hinton and was also formerly employed by Atlas Transfer Company in Hinton. He was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church at Hix and was a lifelong resident of Summers County. Ashby was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and especially camping with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be missed by his entire family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Marie Rakes Wiseman, a son, Charles Edward Wiseman, a daughter, Alice Faye Lilly, a grandson, Timothy Zane Lilly, a brother, Roy Wiseman, three sisters, Una and June Wiseman and Geneva Wiseman Willey. He was also preceded by his step-mother, Opal Keffer Wiseman.
Survivors include three daughters, Norma Gunter and husband Bob and Sherry Gwinn and husband Chuck, both of Hinton, and Debbie Wiseman of Beckley. One brother, Charles “Bud” Wiseman of Zion Mountain. One sister, Pearl Wiseman Young and husband Phil of Milton, WV. Nine grandchildren, Victoria Pickett, Ellen Samples, Dana Hammons, Demi Whitaker, Elaina Cook, Chasity Wiseman, Charlene Pugh, Chris Wiseman and Charles Wiseman, Jr. Thirteen great grandchildren, three great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday December 13, 2017 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Gary Trout officiating. Burial will follow in the Wiseman Family Cemetery on Zion Mountain. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.3 |

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, James Bragg and Sarah Lena Bragg and a brother, Eddie Jr. Bragg, sisters Eula Bennett, Imogene Thompson; grandson Lee Jones and son-in-law John Jones.
She is survived by daughter Shelly Jones of Fayetteville, WV; sons David (Betty) Bragg, James “Pete”(Joyce) Bragg, and Freeman Bragg (who took care of her), Kenny Taylor, Clyde Taylor, all of Oak Hill, brother Harold Bragg of King, NC sisters Glenna Bailey of Hinton, WV and Juanita Setleff of Beckley, WV. Geneva also has 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She liked to crochet and watch TV.
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 6th at High Lawn Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with Jeremy Jones officiating. Family may call beginning at 1:00 pm. Due to Covid-19 restrictions all persons must be masked and social distancing must be observed.
Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park.2 |

Eula M. Bennett, age 84, of Millbury, Ohio passed away on Monday (February 19, 2018) at Fostoria Community Hospital. She was born on June 1, 1933 in Hinton, West Virginia to the late James & Sara (Persinger) Bragg. She married Fred W. Bennett on June 26, 1952 and he passed away in 1999.
Surviving are children, Bruce (Linda) Bennett of Bangor, Maine, Dottie (Bud) Weatherholtz of Florida, Larry (Evelyn) Bennett of Risingsun, Ohio, Linda (Steve) Hicks of Bangor, Maine, Sandra Bennett of Toledo, Ohio, Freddie Bennett of Toledo, Ohio, JoAnna (Michael) Lynn of Perrysburg, Ohio; brother, Harold (Eva) Bragg of North Carolina; sisters, Glenna Bailey of Hinton, West Virginia, Genevieve Simms of Oak Hill, West Virginia, Juanita Setliff of Beckley, West Virginia; many grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, James husband, Fred; brother, Eddie Bragg, Jr; sister, Ima Jean; and daughters, Norma Cole and two infant girls.
Eula was a homemaker and a member of the Old Time Church in Bradner, Ohio. She will be remembered and missed dearly by her children and grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday (February22, 2018) at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio where a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 AM Friday (February 23, 2018) with Reverend Charles Hurst officiating. Burial will be in Lake Township Cemetery near Millbury, Ohio. Memorial donations may be made to the Old Time Church in Bradner.
