Born Dec. 13, 1917, in Summers County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Laura Young Meadows. Mrs. Bennett was a member of Martha Chapel United Methodist Church, a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Summers County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Augustus Bennett, in March 1983; a son, Donel Lee Bennett, in January 1958; a grandson, Roger Bennett, in July 1995; three brothers, Roy, Arlie and Calma Meadows; and a sister, Jean Hoenig. Survivors include two sons, Jackie Bennett and his wife, Martha, and Wayne Bennett and his wife, Yonnie, all of Madams Creek; two brothers, Donald Meadows and his wife, Melba, of Madams Creek, and Basil Meadows of Layland; a brother-in-law, Bill Hoenig of Glen Burnie, Md; three sisters-in-law, Maudie, Sylvia and Leola Meadows; four grandchildren, Larry Bennett and his wife, Denise, Sue Ballard and her husband, Mike, Karen Trent and her husband, Bruce, and Kim Downard and her husband, Jeremy; eight great-grandchildren, Geri Lynn, Joni, Justin, Adam, Kevin, Jacqueline, Colleen and Sara; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, Hinton, with Pastor Mike Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens.
