Evelyn Zemerick

Evelyn Zemerick, 93, of Sprague passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Born March 29, 1917, she is the daughter of the late Frank and Carrie Kessler Hicks.

Evelyn enjoyed camping, attending the State Fair, fishing and going with her husband while he hunted.

She was employed as a nurse’s aide and an EKG technician at the Beckley Hospital. She was a member of the Sprague Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband Charles Zemerick; brothers Ellsworth, Orville, Eldridge, Everett, Elmond and Emerson; sisters Bernice Loetscher and Erma Hicks.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Janet Bailey and husband Jerry of Beckley, Nancy Tillette and husband Jim of Lansing; sons Kenneth Zemerick and wife Karen of Smithville, Mo., Darrell Zemerick and wife Kaye of Oak Hill; sisters Bertelle Shufelt of Binghamton, N.Y., Elizabeth Sapp of Palm Bay, Fla., Barbara Truppo of Dandridge, Tenn. and Ernestine Keiser of Jackson Heights, N.Y; brother Frank Edward Hicks, Jr. of Springdale; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Pastor Fred Lovell officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may gather with the family today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
