GREENVILLE - Liza J. Waddell, 92, of Greenville, WV, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Heritage Hall Rich Creek in Rich Creek, VA.
Born June 27, 1925 at Ramp, WV, she was the daughter of the late Alan and Bertha Bennett Bragg.
Liza was of Christian faith. She owned and operated the Waddell Grocery Store in Greenville for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Waddell; three sons, David, Darrell, and Danny Waddell; an infant daughter; one grandson, David Wayne Waddell, Jr; five brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include one sister, Mary Miller of Lindside, WV; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM on Friday, October 27, 2017, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Minister Henry Conley officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Union, WV. Friends may call from 12:00 PM until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.

BALLARD — Maxine Collins, 72, of Ballard, died Sunday, May 6, 2012, following a short illness at the Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Division.
Born November 1, 1939, in Summers County, she was a daughter of the late Allen and Bertha Bragg. Mrs. Collins was of the Baptist Faith and had previously lived and worked in Baltimore, MD, for 30 years, then returned home to her beloved home state to retire.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Collins, five brothers: Bob, George, Daniel, Joe and Dougie Bragg, and two sisters, Betty Regalcuto and Sally Dick.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sisters, Liza Waddell and Mary Miller, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Maxine loved her family, flower garden and her beloved dogs.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond Cemetery at Ramp. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dean and Dennis Bragg, Chris and Shane Greenlee, Jerry Simms and Jimmy Bragg.

Thelma Mae Cales Bragg, 85 of Ramp, died Tuesday June 13, 2017 at Main Street Care in Hinton following a long illness.
Born April 2, 1932 at Ramp, she was the daughter of the late Alfred B. and Prudence Lee Ward Cales.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Bragg on May 27, 1972; also preceded by four brothers, Lester, Basil, Charles and Curtis and a sister, Gladys Dameron.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Mae Bragg of Ramp, three brothers, Leonard & wife Tina Cales and Eddie Cales and friend Phyllis Robbins both of Ramp and Emmett Cales & wife Pauline of Rupert. A special niece, Kristi Cales of Roanoke, VA.
Ms. Bragg lived most of her life at Ramp and attended Ramp Holiness Church early on in her life. She attended Locustdale School at Ramp. She accepted the Lord as savior on June 27, 2010 while at Summers Nursing & Rehab. Center at Hilldale. She was currently a member of Laurel Creek Baptist Church at Sandstone. Thelma [loved] her family dearly, and was a great mother and loving sister. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers as long as her health permitted. She loved Bluegrass Gospel music, reading and bird watching and having company and cooking for her family. She spent the last 3 years and 9 months of her life at Main Street Care in Hinton where the caregivers became a second family. Caregivers while at home for 3 years were her daughter, Shirley, sister-in-law, Tina Cales, Phyllis Robbins, niece Jackie Hughes, Linda Wood and Bonnie Ayers and her therapist, Cindy Chinn.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday June 16, 2017 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastors Melvin Wills and Jerry Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Cooper Cemetery at Sandstone. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Main Street Care for all the love and care given to Thelma while a resident. She loved you all.2 |

Born Oct. 12, 1924, at Thurmond, she was the daughter of the late Kirby Hall Campbell and May Arlene Patterson Campbell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey B. Bragg Sr; a son, Aubrey B. Bragg Jr; two brothers, Fred Campbell and E.E. “Buck” Campbell; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Hall.
Mrs. Bragg was a homemaker and a member of the Nimitz Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Kirby Bragg and wife Lisa of Nimitz; daughter-in-law, Brenda Bragg of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Chris Bragg and wife Becky of Wise, Va., Meredith Collier and husband John of Scott Depot, Benjamin Bragg and wife Denise of Bluewell, and Seth Bragg of Nimitz; and four great-grandchildren, Devin Weiss, Loren Weiss, Emily Collier, and Ben Bragg.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Pastor Jeff Canterbury officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
