Johnny Bruce Bragg, 66, of Reedsville entered from his home into eternal rest on Tuesday December 27th 2016. He was born November 28th 1950 in Piney View, West Virginia. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Beckley.
He worked as a coal miner, as a contractor and moved on to then work as painter for C.D. Parsons where he moved up to truck driver, which eventually led to an injury that changed our lives forever. After the injury that left him with very few options for employment he went to college and earned His Associates of Arts in Social Work from the College of West Virginia, The degree of Bachelor of SOCIAL WORK - SUMMA CUM LAUDE from Concord. The Gamma Delta Phi Society from Concord College, May 1994. He was presented the first ever award "in recognition of achieving the highest Grade Point Average Bachelor of Social Work Class of 1994 Concord College." Presented by Social Work Dept. Concord College. The Degree Master of Social Work from WVU and went to work as a counselor at and moved up to be the Team Leader of the Morgantown Vet Center. He worked with and led his team at the Vet Center to be the "The Vet Center Of Excellence" three times. For his dedicated Service to Veterans he was designated "Veteran of the Year, Monongalia Celebration of America Committee July 4, 2008." He was listed in the 100 Most Influential people in Monongalia County. Among his many degrees and awards hangs a Certificate of Completion from United Truck Master. He was nominated by his veteran family and awarded the "The Chapel of Four Chaplains The Legion of Honor Award". He assisted countless Veterans without question; all they had to do was ask. Veterans were his second family. He laughed with, cried with and celebrated with each Veteran each step it took to get them the help they needed. He truly cared for and loved each and every Veteran and their family he ever came in contact with.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years Regina Katheleen (Settle); nephew William Bragg of Kingwood, WV; three nieces Mrs. Elizabeth Jones and Mrs. Lisa Barker of Perry, Ga. and Mrs. Debbie Brion of Richmond Hill, Ga.
Johnny was preceded in death by his father Earl H. Bragg and mother Josephine (Jones) Bragg of Piney View, his brother and sister-in-law Ezekiel and Alice Bragg of Kingwood, WV.
A Celebration of Life services coordinated by Samantha Blevins and Michelle Lewis will be Monday January 23, 2017 at 10:00 am in the WVANG Morgantown Readiness Center (90 Army Band Way, off Cheat Road between Mileground and I68). Military Honors will be accorded by: Chaplain Justin Elliot; Pastor Shirley Robinson; the WVANG Honor Detail; and Westover VFW Post # 9916. Private entombment services were held previously at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley.

William Albert “Skeeter” Bragg, 41, of Kingwood formerly of Beckley went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at his home.
Born July 13, 1975 at Beckley he was a son of the late Ezekiel Earl “Butch” and Alice Settle Bragg.
Skeeter was a man that never met a stranger so he leaves behind countless friends. Although he didn’t have an “official” job title he was able to perform many jobs and never turned his back on anyone that needed help, whether he knew how to do the job or not. He was the proverbial “Jack of all trades master of none”. He was usually the life of the party and he had a way of brightening a room just by coming in. Skeeter always left you with a smile.
He had friends that came by his home and often read the Bible together. Skeeter had a desire to know more about God. He also enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, fourwheeling and spending time with family and friends.
Skeeter was preceded in death by a son, Austin Hunter Bragg; paternal grandfather, Earl Howard Bragg; paternal grandmother, Josephine (Jones) Bragg; maternal grandfather, Ed Settle; maternal grandmother, Mary (Mitchell) Settle and one uncle, Johnny Bragg.
Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Devin Nicholas Bragg of Beckley and Robert Earl Bragg of Hinton; one expected grandson; three sisters, Elizabeth Jones, Debbie Brion and Lisa Barker all of Perry, GA; aunt, Regina Bragg of Kingwood and special friend, Lora Brinegar.
Graveside service and burial will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Shockley Hill Cemetery with Grayson Brinegar officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery from 12:30 P.M. until time of services.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.1 |
