JOHNSON, Roger L. age 72 of Waynesville passed away Mon. May 19, 2014 with his family by his side. Roger worked 20 years for Centerville Steel and several more years for Marmac Company in Xenia. A member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Clarksville, he greatly enjoyed watching the Reds and Bengals, being outside, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Waynesville American Legion post 615. He was preceded in death by his parents James Johnson and Violet Ward, his brother Jerry Johnson, and his sister Helen Ward. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary; son and daughter-in-law Marcus and Tammy Johnson; and three grandchildren Jarrett, Chloe, and Deacon. Funeral services 10:30 AM Fri. May 23, 2014 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville. Burial will be at Miami Cemetery, Corwin. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thurs. at the funeral home. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.2

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah Lynn Ward; a son, Michael Ward; sisters, Blondina Lewis and Eugondia Ward; and brothers, Travis Ward, Steve Ward and Bradley Ward.

Beechie grew up in Summers County and had worked for the railroad.

Surviving: his companion, Stephanie Stevens of Oak Hill; his children, Jackie Ward of Meadow Creek, Becky Sovine of Rainelle, Kimberley Campbell of Florida, Scott Ward of New York, Dianne Mahoney of Cleveland, Ohio, and Tyler Ward of Oak Hill; brothers, Jim Ward, William Ward, Jesse Ward and Ronald Ward; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were Jan. 29 at at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Sam Calloway officiating. Burial followed in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
