She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert E. Hearn; and a son, Walter D. "Buddy" Hearn.

Gladys was known as the premier homemaker and was the last survivor in a family of 15.

She was a charter member of North Roanoke Baptist Church and was currently a member of Green Ridge Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, William G. "Bo" Hearn Sr. and wife, Gaynor, of Falling Waters; daughter, Sandra M. Hearn of Roanoke; grandchildren, Michael Darris Hearn of Stuarts Draft, Va., Tammy S. Ervin of Falling Waters, Tonya D. Hearn of Germantown, Md., William G. Hearn Jr. and wife, Alisha, of Martinsburg, Michelle M. Timmerman of Baltimore, Md., and Christina D. Timmerman of Annapolis, Md; great-grandchildren, Jacob D. Ervin, Amanda G. Ervin, Hannah N. Hearn and Madeline Hearn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 554, Roan-oke, VA 24003-0554.

Service will be 11:30 a.m. today at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, with Dr. J. Michael Palmer and the Rev. Jim Hearn officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
