Surviving are three sons, Matthew O. of Terre Haute, Charles C. of Las Cruces, NM, and George C. Withrow of Evansville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The body was taken to Thomas Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 pm Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Saturday in the Thomas Chapel with the Rev. C. G. McCrocklin officiating. Wyant, 96, formerly of Raceland, Ky., and Summers County, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, at Brandon Regional Hospital in Tampa, Fla., following a long illness.
Born April 18, 1910, in Summers County, he was the son of the late Walter Grant and Cora Elizabeth Allen Wyant.
Mr. Wyant was a retired fireman for C&O Railroad and a member of Raceland Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Idress Wills Wyant; a grandson, Anthony Wayne Wyant; and four brothers, Everette, Ray, Paul and Howard Wyant.
He is survived by three sons, Eugene Wyant and wife, Leola, of Lima, Ohio, Ronald Wyant and wife, Rosemary, of Wallbridge, Ohio, and Kenneth Wyant and wife, Karen, of Lynchburg, Va; two daughters, Fonda Richerson and husband, Bill, of Anaheim, Calif., and Loretta Simmons and husband, Bruce, of Tampa; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
