She was a former member of the Bascom Methodist Church in Rupert, WV and a Licensed Practical Nurse in Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her late husbands, Garnett Harrison Berry of Rupert, WV and Omer E. Carr of Rainelle, WV. She is survived by two sons, David Kyle Berry and wife Becky of Knoxville, TN and Robert Alan Berry and wife Brenda of Terra Alta, WV and one daughter, Barbara Jean Berry Marashi and husband Fred of Kingwood, Texas. She has 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Nieces and nephews are many! She had four siblings precede her in death and has three surviving sisters, Wanda Fridley Knox Hall of Gardnerville, Nevada, Anna Fridley Miles of Antioch, California and Monica Fridley Chesterman of Walnut Creek, California Her ashes will be interred at Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville, WV in the spring 2018. Services date will be determined at a later date.6 |

Beloved husband of the late Mary Frances Fridley, whom he married on July 30, 1949 and who died on October 15, 1998; father of Dr. Arthur C. Fridley of Shady Side, MD and Donna Lee Lilly of Glen Dale, MD; brother of Donald and Thomas Fridley both of Millboro, VA, Marjorie Taylor of Charlottesville, VA and the late Rodney Fridley; grandfather of Stacey Rainbolt and Jason Lilly; great grandfather of Isabella and Olivia Lilly. Friends are invited to Mr. Fridley’s Life Celebration on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the George P. He was born March 31, 1928 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, a son of the late Earnest Lee and Nannie Mae Hornbarger Fridley. He served as a sergeant in the United States Air Force and was a retired superintendant for the Clifton Forge Fire Department, serving there for thirty-three years from October of 1963 until April of 1996. He also served as a volunteer fireman for a number of years. He attended Clifton Forge Baptist Church and Oak Grove Advent Christian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Rodney Fridley and Courtney Fridley. He is survived by his wife, Betty Watts Fridley of Millboro; two daughters, Debbie Nicely and husband, Adali of Clifton Forge and Cathy Ford and husband, Mark of Millboro; two sons, Scott Fridley of Millboro and Robert Fridley and wife, Fran of Natural Well; a sister, Marjorie Taylor of Charlottesville; a brother, Donald Fridley and wife, Sudie of Millboro; six grandchildren, Sara Armstrong and husband, Eric, Nathan Nicely, Clay Ford, Ashley Fridley, Mackenzie Fridley and Bryson Defibaugh; three great grandchildren, Brad Armstrong, Caleb Armstrong and Brittany Nicely; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend W. Pembroke Hall officiating. Interment followed in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be Robert Fridley, Scott Fridley, Nathan Nicely, Eric Armstrong, Delbert Smith, Clyde Martin, Ronnie Jones, David Kay and Tommy Fitch. The family received friends on Friday evening at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the residence. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422. The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia, handled the arrangements.4,5 |
