He was born June 14, 1914 in Mt. Hope; he was the son of the late William T. and Nora Ellen Thornhill Crum.

Emmett was a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church, where he served as Sunday school teacher, youth leader, deacon, and elder. He was also a former two-term mayor of Mabscott.

In addition to his parents, Emmett was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Jones Crum; a sister, Carrie Hinkle; and four brothers, Jim, Roy, Lee, and Luther Crum.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, David L. Crum and wife Norma of Beckley and Donald Crum and wife Mary of Beckley; a daughter, Alice Higgins and husband Charles of Saraland, Ala; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Emory “Pete” Crum of Columbus, Ohio.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Grove Christian Church, with Pastors Ken Overdorf, Rick Abshire, and Sheldon Cosma officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove.

Michael Crum, Tommy Crum, J.R. Ellison, Lindsey Whitten, Glen Warden, Dick Lilly, and Jim Robinson will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may gather with the family from 6 until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
