Was Member of City Council, Former Head Of Business Group
Alexander D. Harrah, member of the city council, died last night at a local hospital at 11:10 o'clock following a major operation. He was formerly prominently connected in the lumber business and was a former president of the West Side Business Men's association. He became seriously ill on December 24.
Mr. Harrah was born in Fayette county in 1864 and has resided in Charleston since 1907. He lived in Columbia boulevard. He was a Shriner and a member of the Randolph Street Baptist church.
Surviving are the widow; 11 children, Earl Harrah, Mrs. W. A. Berringer, Mrs. Walter Brooks, Mrs. H. H. Corrie, Mrs. Conrad Ross, Walter D. Harrah, Miss Lena Harrah, Howard D. Harrah, all of Charleston, and Holland E. Harrah of Prudence and Grafton Harrah of Meadow Creek, and several brothers and sisters.
The body was taken to Owen and Barth funeral home pending funeral arrangements..3,2 |
