Verna C. Rhodes, 92, of Charleston was received into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 29, 2010.
She was a beautician, homemaker and loving mother and grandmother. She was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Bible Center Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Oswald Rhodes; parents, Andrew Lester and Rosa Lee Campbell; brothers, John Campbell, Curtis Campbell, Darrell Campbell, Eugene Campbell and Earl Campbell; and sisters, Nola Sims and June Underwood.
Surviving are her children, Elizabeth McConnell of Charleston and Rosalie (Rosie) Rhodes of St. Albans; grandchildren, George (Tara) Spruce IV of Charleston and Ann McConnell of Augusta, Ga; step-grandchildren, Amy (David) Green of Decatur, Ga., David McConnell and John McConnell of Clarksburg and Paul (Nicki) McConnell of Staunton, Va; great-grandchildren, Dillon Tucker of Winfield and Jakob, Hannah and Alexa Spruce of Charleston; and her sisters, Lorena Brooks of Fairdale and Amalee White of Somerset, Ky.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2011 at Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home (513 Tennessee Avenue, Charleston, WV 25302) with Pastor David Jones officiating. Entombment will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the funeral home.

Ama Lee White, daughter of the late Andrew and Rosalie Pitsenbarger Campbell, was born in Bellborn, W.Va., on December 27, 1924, and she departed this life on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, in Somerset, Ky., having attained the age of 86 years.
She was united in marriage to the late Rev. Farrada White; he preceded her in death in December of 2010.
Survivors include: one son, William Lester (and Sharon) White of Bolt, W.Va; two daughters, Patricia (and Charles) Reed of Somerset, Ky., and Jane (and Dana) Sublett of Aldon, Ill; nine grandchildren, Charles, Wesley, Gregory, Theresa, Martin, James, Bill Jr., Troy and Angela; one sister, Lorena Brooks of Fairdale, W.Va; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Ama Lee was a salesperson for Hallmark for many years, she was a kind lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
Other than her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by five brothers, Eugene, Darrell, John, Curtis and Earl Campbell, and three sisters, Nola Simms, Verna Rhodes, and June Underwood.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2011, in the Mausoleum Chapel of the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dewey Lowe officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.
The family of Mrs. Ama Lee White will receive friends at the Mausoleum Chapel at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens from 1 p.m. Sunday until time for services.

On Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the age of 87 and the last living member of her family, our loving Mom, Mamaw and Great-Mamaw joined the angels in heaven.
Lorena Ann Campbell Brooks, of Beckley, formerly of Fairdale, was born on June 10, 1926, in Bellburn, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Andrew (Doc) and Rosa Pittsenberger Campbell.
She was the owner of Lorena’s Beauty Shop in McRoss, a member of the Debora Rebeka Lodge 100 since 1966 where she was a past noble grand and secretary for many years and a member of the Breckenridge Missionary Baptist Church in Bolt.
Preceding her in death were her husband John (Bubby) Brooks; her parents-in-law William and Margie Brooks; 4 sisters Nola Sims, Verna Rhodes, Ama White and June Underwood; and 5 brothers Darrell, Gene, John, Curtis and Earl Campbell.
Survivors include her daughter Johnna Adkins of Beckley; her son Michael Brooks and wife Kaye of Beckley; grandsons Kristopher Adkins and Mindy of Stanaford, Justin Adkins and Brittani of Bradley and Nicholas Brooks of Morgantown and Beckley; a granddaughter Kaitlyn Brooks of Beckley; one great-granddaughter who could always bring a smile to Lorena’s face, Presley Adkins; 3 sisters-in-law Cora Spencer, Barbara Brooks and Lucille Campbell; one brother-in-law Fred Underwood; an ex-son-in-law Kermit Adkins; a special friend Lillie Pegram and lots of nieces and nephews. Johnna and Mike would like to thank all the very special people of Hospice of Southern WV for all they did for Lorena. They would also like to thank Pastor Dewey Lowe for always being there for Lorena and the family. God bless you all. God blessed us with a very special mom and now she is at peace and can rest. We love you!
Services will be 12 noon Tuesday, June 25, in the Breckenridge Missionary Baptist Church at Bolt with Pastor Dewey Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery at Clintonville. The service will conclude with the release of the White Flights.
Friends may call one hour before the service from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the church.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Fred; her children, Drema (Richard) Ignaczak of Northwood, Mary (David) Brenskelle of Hendersonville, NC, Sandra (Anthony) Hart of Rossford and Beverly (Gary) Mathews of Walbridge; grandchildren, Lisa Nye, Amy (Steve) Hollo, Ashley Hart, Emily Mathews, Laura Brenskelle, Michael Mathews, Stacie Brenskelle and the late Andrea Ignaczak and Scott Hart; great-grandchildren, Zac Deer, Aiden and Alexandrea Hollo and sisters, Verna Rhodes of Charleston, WV, Ama Lee (Farrada) White of Sommerset, KY, Lorena Brooks of Fairdale, WV. Friends will be received on Sunday, August 9, 2009, from 2-8 p.m. in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St. Walbridge (419-666-3121) where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ron Shinkle, officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Township Cemetery.
