Verona Lucy Dick, 92, of Ramp went home to be with the Lord Monday, February 26, 2018 at Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
Born September 3, 1925 at Green Sulphur Springs she was a daughter of the late Joseph Francis (Frank) and Evelyn Alice Hicks Fox.
Verona attended Ramp Holiness Church. She worked as a receptionist/secretary and was a caregiver as long as her health permitted. Verona enjoyed reading, flowers, knitting dishrags, working puzzle books and playing Yahtzee. She also loved watching her humming birds and the other birds she fed.
Verona was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leslie (Bob) Dick; one grandson, Dana Silas Alphon Brinegar; four great great grandchildren; two sons in law, Golden Brinegar and Alphon Brinegar and one brother in law, Tony Dick.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Margie Brinegar of Tug Creek and Patsy Brinegar of Hilldale; five grandchildren, Decretia Cales of Tug Creek, Grayson Brinegar and wife Barbara of Tug Creek, Allen Brinegar of Tug Creek, Debbie Ward of Judson and Datsi Farmer and husband Gary of Madams Creek; one granddaughter in law, Betty Brinegar of KY; thirteen great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren and two great great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 2, 2018 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Patricia Cales officiating. Burial will follow in the Halliden Cemetery at Lick Creek. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral parlor.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.³

Waynesville, Steven Taylor Sutton, age 60, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at his residence.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of Bonnie Hicks Sutton and the late Taylor Filetus Sutton.

Steve was of the Baptist Faith. He graduated from Western Carolina University in 1979 with a degree in Marketing. Steve began playing the banjo as a child and was playing professionally before he was 12. His adult career began with Jimmy Martin at the Grand Ole Opry immediately following Sutton's graduation from Tuscola High School in 1974, and included stints with Alecia Nugent, Rhonda Vincent, George Jones and others. He continued appearing on the Grand Ole Opry, and on such network television shows as "Hee Haw." Locally, Sutton was a member of Whitewater Bluegrass Company and The Darren Nicholson Band.

Steve is survived by his mother, Bonnie Hicks Sutton, of Waynesville; sister, Juanita Hendricks, of Greenville, South Carolina; nieces, Leah Hendricks, of Greenville, South Carolina and Britt Stribling, and her husband, Tony, of Campobello, South Carolina; and a special cousin, Carolyn Hunter, of Waynesville.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Phillip Wyatt officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to IBMA Bluegrass Trust Fund, 4206 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216.¹
