OAK HILL — French E. Tredway Jr., 80, of Oak Hill, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006.
Born Feb. 18, 1925, he was the son of the late French and Margaret Alta Tredway.
French was an avid woodcrafter and recently became a Christian through Pastor Jerry Bush of Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene and served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Tredway was retired from Long-Airdox after 33 years of service.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Maxine Blackwell Tredway; a daughter, Terri Lea Tredway; and a sister, Doris Beals.
Those left to cherish his loving memory include daughters, Sandra Tredway Meyer and husband, Richard, of Oshkosh, Wis., Judith Tredway Jones and husband, Harold, of Oak Hill, Iris Rose Patrick and husband, Jerry, of Gatewood and Tammy Lynn Tredway Kitchen of Maryland; a son, French Tredway III and wife, Starlett, of Oak Hill; a sister, Freda Blackwell of Oak Hill; a brother, Kenneth Tredway of Ohio; granddaughters, Susan Stark of Oshkosh, Debbie Hornacek of Lexington, S.C., Amanda Patrick of Summersville and Rachael Kitchen of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; grandsons, Harold “Punkin” Jones Jr. of Oak Hill, Bill E. Jones of Oak Hill and Christopher Patrick of Beckley; and eight great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. today at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, with Pastor Jerry Bush officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call 12:30 p.m. until time of service today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Harold “Punkin” Jones Jr., Bill Jones, Christopher Patrick, Lewis Jones, Harold Jones, French Tredway III and Oather Jones.

Born Nov. 11, 1928, at Oak Hill, she was the daughter of the late Jasper Edward and Florence Verda Nugen Tredway.
Mrs. Campbell attended First Church of God in Fayetteville and Oak Hill. In the Fayetteville First Church of God she played the piano and she and her husband were the first youth leaders. She was a homemaker, an avid traveler, and she loved to crochet.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Eugene Campbell, on April 27, 1978; her son, Gregory Allen Campbell, on Aug. 28, 2006; and two infant sons.
Left to cherish her memory will be her son, Arthur E. Campbell Jr. and his wife, Janie, of Fayetteville; three grandsons, Arthur Campbell III and wife, Tiffany, of Sutton, John Campbell and wife, Roze, of Fayetteville and Grant Campbell and fiancée, Christie Guthrie, of Oak Hill; a granddaughter, Hope Campbell of Oak Hill; a great-granddaughter, Zoey Campbell of Sutton; a brother, Allen Tredway and wife, Arlene, of Akron, Ohio; and Beverly Jane Campbell of Oak Hill.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, with Pastor Tonya Shupe and the Rev. Robert Mattox officating. Burial will follow in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made in Helen Campbell’s name to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.

Mrs. Arretta “Mae” Boynton, 96, passed away Sunday, Nov. 21, 2020, in Vancouver, WA.
She was born April 13, 1925, in Virginia to Ben and Della (Blankenship) Lavender and was proceeded in death by her husband of 65 years, Joseph L. Boynton.
Mae is survived by two sons and a daughter, Ron Boynton, Lawrence Boynton, Marilyn Yinger; two daughter-in-laws, Sandy Boynton and Kay Boynton; five grandchildren, Becki Quick, Eric Yinger, Amy Yinger, Rachel Boynton and Ruth Boynton; three great-grandchildren, Madison Mae Yinger, Camden Yinger and CJ Quick. She leaves many other family members and friends who will deeply miss her.
Mae was known for her wicked sense of humor, amazing crochet skills, her love of cats, and years of volunteering with Peace Health Hospital.
Mae was a lifelong member of Elim Lutheran Church in Hockinson, WA, and a woman of strong faith.7 |
