Emma Florence Duncan, 89, of Oak Hill, died Aug. 7, 2015 at Fayette Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Fayetteville.

Born March 18, 1926 at Oak Hill, she was the daughter of the late C.W. and Viola Blake Duncan. She also was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Lee Duncan.

Emma was a 1943 graduate of Oak Hill High School and an honor graduate of Marshall College. In her early years, she taught mathematics in secondary schools in West Virginia and also was a social worker for the state of West Virginia.

As one point she moved to Dayton, Ohio where she became a full charge bookkeeper for a number of companies and later moved to Wichita, Kansas where she continued this line of work.

When she returned to West Virginia nearly 25 years later, she worked for several businesses in Oak Hill until she retired due failing health.

Throughout her life, Emma loved the Lord and was active in church work. At the time of her death, she was a member of LifeBridge Assembly of God in Oak Hill.

Graveside rites and committal services, with burial following, were held Aug. 10 at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill with Rev. Shirlie Watson officiating.
