Biography*1909 ELDER WILLIAM ALBERT BIBB.

By Himself. Bedford county, Virginia, near Lynchburg, was my birthplace. My parents, Benjamin and Mary Bibb, brought me to Pike county, Missouri, in infancy. I was reared upon a farm and was blessed with a common school education. I attended the high school at Clarksville one year; was five months in the Paynesville Academy, also was two years in the LaGrange College. I was converted at the age of fifteen years and joined the Ramsey Creek Baptist Church, was baptized by Uncle A. G. Mitchell. At the age of twenty I felt the call of God to the ministry of the gospel, but did not yield for some time, but when I fully realized the only way to happiness was obedient to God's call, I entered college, spent what means I had in preparing for the life's work. In the year 1882 four churches called me to serve them as Pastor, and Ramsey Creek Church called a Presbytery and ordained me, in company with C. A. Mitchell, to the full work of the ministry. From 1882 to date I have never had an idle Sunday. I have served as Pastor twenty-eight churches, labored eighteen months as missionary for Salt River Association, have baptized 3,287 men and women and witnessed many other conversions in Christ; also organized the church at Center, Ralls county, and Peno at McCune Station. I have married 298 couples, preached many funerals. Am now pastor of New Salem Church for half time; also Mt. Zion once a month.

Married Miss Mary A. Givens when quite a young man. It was a happy union; to us were born six children—one boy and five girls. Great afflictions came to us in the loss of a sweet little girl. The afflictions and death of this sweet spirited wife, who had been my greatest earthly help, was a severe trial. The deep sorrow had hardly passed until the only boy, then a man, was suddenly cut down in death. Grief-stricken and lonely, I looked up to heaven and said, "Though thou slay me, yet will I trust Thee." I married my present wife, who was Miss Margaret I. Lindsey, in January, 1898. One little daughter has been given us and the home is happy.

I was in Audrain county six years. Have held meetings in Illinois and Kansas. It has been my greatest joy to labor in the work of soul saving and God has greatly blessed these labors in this work. In the early part of my ministry I purchased a good library and this is my workshop. Wise and good brethren have helped me much. J. D. Biggs, James Peid, W. J. Patrick and Wm. Tipton all contributed by way of needed counsel. I have sought a loving relation with my brethren; I love men, and thus love God and the lost of this world.

I was made moderator of Salt River Association in the year 1907 and am moderator at this writing. My highest ambition is not for fame nor riches, but to glorify God and help others to God, realizing the days for soul-winning with every man are numbered and few; also the inevitable result to those who are not won to God, stirs my heart much every day, and as the evening-tide begins to come and the shadows fall lower, how I wish for this old world that they come and go to the land of the blessed.6
